　どこかの大学の入試問題文より。

• 問題はsaveと同義のイディオムとを選ぶようなのだったけど、"for a rainy day"「万一の時」という表現のほうが面白くて気になった。
  • Invest and save for a rainy day.
  • She has a couple of thousand pounds kept aside which she's saving for a rainy day.
• rain つながりで "take a rain check"「またの機会に…」なんてのも（米語）。なんとなくスマートな印象を受けるので好きな言い回し。スラスラっと出てきたらかっこいいと思うのだけれど！
  • 'Care for a drink?' 'I'll take a rain check, thanks.'
  • I can’t make it tonight, but I’d like to take a rain check.
