(言葉がうまく出てこない時でも大丈夫。)
 tongueつながりで、映画「メリーポピンズ」の中のナンバー「supercalifragilisticexpiaridocious」の中の1フレーズ。

  • 子供が黙りこくっている時などに、どうしたの?という意味合い(Why are you not saying anything?)で「What happened? Has the cat got your tongue?」と問いかける表現があるそうで、ここから来ている歌詞。うーん、おもしろカワイイ。
  • そういえばtongueの綴りを覚える時に「豚牛」って覚えたなあ、とかふと思う。
    • After she finished the story, I kept silent. "What's the matter, cat got your tongue?" she asked.
    • Grandpa used to terrify me, both because he was big and fierce-looking and because he usually greeted me by bellowing, "Cat got your tongue?"
    • Hi, Lisa! How are you? How's your husband? Are you surprised to see me? What's the matter, has the cat got your tongue?
