I'm putting up a smile...

辞書でピッタリの説明は見つからなかったけれど 「闘志・抵抗などを見せる(to show great determination to oppose something or get out of a difficult situation)」っていうのが大元にあるのかな。
  • 用例を探すと"put up a face"や"put up a smile on my face"というような形で見つかった。
    • I pretend that I’m ok, that I’m fine. I put up a smile on my face.
    • He was trying to put-up a smile on a sad face.
    • He quietly tried to put up a face that everything was as its best.
    • Young Sakura looked at the boy and tried to put up a face of disgust.(漫画「NARUTO」の説明のページにあった。)
    • I have to put up a face that showed no fear, no weakness, nothing else. I'm so tempered by being threatened, beaten up, and ignored.
