（もうすでに遅れているんです。）
　以前買った「TOEIC Test プラスマガジン」のPractice TOEIC Test 音声問題より。駅での会話。

  • 会話を流して聞いてれば状況は浮かぶんだけど、何故に "running"??と気になって調べてみるとrunには「（時間的に）〜である； happen or arrive at the specified time／to arrive, go somewhere, or do something late, early, or at the right time 」という意味で、主に進行形で使う使い方があった。
    • They were running late.（彼らは予定より遅れていた。）
    • They were running to time.（彼らは予定通りだった。）
    • They were running ahead of time.（彼らは予定より進んでいた。）
    • I'm running late, so I'll talk to you later.
    • If the train runs on time, we'll be there by ten.
