You missed out!

（見逃しちゃって残念だったネ！）
　ピアノの発表会、行けたら行くね！と言っていたお友達が、当日都合が悪くなってこられなかった。「どうだった？」とメールがきたので、my performance was fantasticだったよ〜、見逃しちゃって残念だったね〜、と調子にのった返信をしてみた。

• "miss out" は、ちょっと前にレッスンで習った言い回し。楽しいイベントなどを逃した時に「ああ〜、残念！」って感じに使うんだって（to not have the chance to do something that you enjoy and that would be good for you／to fail to use or enjoy an opportunity）！
• 後ろに具体的に見逃した、体験し損ねたものを述べる時には "miss out on" の形に。
  • Some children miss out because their parents can't afford to pay for school trips.
  • Prepare food in advance to ensure you don't miss out on the fun!
  • He failed to recover from a leg injury and missed out on a trip.
  • She'd missed out on going to university.
  • We missed out on a chance to get a cheaper mortgage.
