　youtubeでメリーポピンズ関連動画を見ていたら、2年前のニュースビデオで82才のディック・ヴァン・ダイクがSupercalifragilisticexpialidociousを歌い躍っている映像を見つけた。その見出しがこれ。

• このbeltって何〜？と調べると、「大声で力強く歌う、弾くetc」という意味だった（to sing a song or play an instrument loudly／to sing or play a song loudly and with spirit.）。ふつうはbelt something outの形で使われるみたい。
  • She was belting out old Broadway favourites.
  • When she's playing the piano, she really belts the music out.
  • She really knows how to belt out a song.
  • She can belt out a number with the best of them.
