　会社の忘年会の帰り、代行で帰る途中でラジオから聞こえてきた表現。プログラム不明。受験英語とかだったのかな？あまり聞いたことない感じだった。音小さくてあまり聞こえなかったけれど、英語学習プログラムをボリュームあげて聴く酔っぱらいっていうのも恥ずかしいなと思ってとりあえずkeep something under one's hatという表現だけ覚えておいた。

• keep something under one's hatで「〜を秘密にしておく」。口語。（to keep something a secret; to keep something in one's mind (only). (If the secret stays under your hat, it stays in your mind.Note the use of but in the examples.)）butと一緒に使って「〜なんだけど、内緒にしてね」と使う感じか。こう使われる時は相手に向かって言っているので自ずとyour hatとなる。
  • Keep this under your hat, but I'm getting married.
  • I'm getting married, but keep it under your hat.
  • I've got some interesting news, but you must promise to keep it under your hat for the moment.
  • I'll tell you the real story, but keep it under your hat.
