　英会話レッスンにて。English Proverbに関するレッスン。好きなことわざは何？僕の好きなのはこれ、と、先生が紹介してくれた表現。

• 「水が降りかかっても、鴨の背は、羽毛の油で濡れない」→「何があっても動じない」という意味だから好き、と説明してたけど、辞書でひくと「どんな批判にあっても意に介さない（if criticism is water off a duck's back to someone, it has no effect on them at all）」という意味で、泰然自若というよりは馬の耳に念仏に近いネガティブなニュアンスを含むのかも？日本語でも意味が本来とずれてしまった成句があるのと一緒かな？ シチュエーションによってニュアンスがかわるのかも。ていうかそもそもproverbじゃなくてただのidiomじゃないのかコレ。
