I'm in a mess.

　ちょっとどうしたらいいかわからないくらい混乱したシチュエーションに立たされていた自分の心境。

• どうしたらいいのかわからない、混乱している、動揺している、といった気持ちを言いたくて、思いついたのはこの I'm in a mess と I'm shaken.
• messにはまさに混乱した、という意味がある。（A confused, troubling, or embarrassing condition／a muddle／ a situation in which there are a lot of problems and difficulties, especially as a result of mistakes or carelessness／a situation or state of affairs that is confused or full of difficulties）部屋がmessyだったりするのと同じ。
  • With divorce and bankruptcy proceedings pending, his personal life was in a mess.
  • The economy is in a terrible mess.
• shaken は文字通り「揺さぶられる→動揺している」というニュアンス。（shake= to disturb or agitate ※agitate：〜を煽動する、動揺させる／unnerve ※unnerve：〜を無気力にする、狼狽させる／to make someone feel very upset or shocked）
  • She was shaken by the news of the disaster.
  • Kerrie was so shaken by the attack that she won't go out alone.
  • She was visibly shaken and upset when she returned.
  • Is he in a mess about money？
