　BBCドラマ「SHERLOCK」エピソード2 "The Blind Banker" より。事件解決後遅まきながら現れたスコットランドヤードのディモック警部にこう残し、ホームズ＆ワトスンは現場を去るのであった。手柄はあげるってさ。

• slipには「こっそりと動く、知られずに動く」という意味がある（to move into or out of a place without being noticed／to move smoothly, especially off or from something）。ここにoffやdown、from、away、throughなどがついて、「こっそり立ち去る（to sneak away）／消え去る」という感じの表現に。主語が人とは限らない。
• 「slip off to 場所」とすることで、消え去った行き先を言うこともできる。
  • They slipped off to the movies unnoticed.
  • They slipped off and no one saw them leave.
  • After lunch, he slipped off for a short nap.
  • They slipped away from the party right after dinner.
  • Cally slipped from his grasp and fled. ※fled：fleed「逃げる」の過去形。
  • Someone was able to slip through security.
