 NHKラジオ「ラジオ英会話」より。バレンタインのカードが机に置いてあったのを見つけた女性と同僚の会話。「例のあの人からじゃないの~?」と冷やかしながらの同僚のセリフ。

  • "from/since day one"=「初めから、初日から(from the very beginning, from the first day)」という表現が面白い。

    • The new governor will start implementing these changes on day one. [=the first day of the governor's term](Merriam) ※from や since を伴わなくても day one=the first day の意味で使える。
  • ちなみに be infatuated with~ で「~に夢中になって、熱を上げて(filled with foolish or very strong love or admiration/having a very strong feeling of love or attraction for somebody/something so that you cannot think clearly and in a sensible way)」という意味になる。
