　NHKラジオ「ラジオ英会話」今週のフレーズより。体調が悪いと思って医者に行ったが、実は症状はつわりの症状で、妊娠だった！ということがわかったカップルの会話で。

• かわいらしい表現！NHKゴガクルのHPによれば、もともとは「バラのような香りで出てくる・起こる」というイメージからきた表現だそう。転じて「万事順調」。（Everything is really just excellent. Life is prosperous.／something that you say when a situation is successful in every way.／used for saying that things are beginning to be very successful for someone.／to be happening or developing in the best possible way.）進行形で使う。
  • Life is wonderful. Everything is coming up roses.
  • How are things going?---Everything's coming up roses.
  • Everything's coming up roses for George at the moment - he's been promoted at work and he's just got engaged.
