Don't mock me!

（まねしないでよ！）
　英会話レッスンの帰り、廊下を歩きながら先生と話していたら、何か私が喋った内容を、同じイントネーションで先生にマネされた。「マネしないでよ！」と言いたくて「Don't pretend me!」と言ったら、「その場合は、Don't pretend to be me か、もっとカジュアルな言い方なら Don't mock me って言うんだよ」と教わった。

• mock＝「マネなどをしてからかう」（to laugh at someone or something and try to make them look stupid by saying unkind things about them or by copying them）。mockを名詞として使うとmake a mock of〜となる。
  • 'Running away?' he mocked.
  • It's easy for you to mock, but we put a lot of work into this play.
  • The children mocked their handicapped classmate.
  • They made a mock of him.
• 携帯とかの見本もmockって言うもんね、そういえば。これはmock-up（n.実物大の模造品）の略で、動詞扱いのまま mock something upとすれば、「実物大の模型を作る」になる。
  • The engineers mocked the new car design up for the managers to see.
  • They mocked up the new car design.
• 「（努力などを）失敗に終わらせる、（希望などを）くじく」という意味も。（ to make something seem completely useless）
  • The high wall mocked his hopes of escape.
  • Violent attacks like this mock the peace process.
