BBCドラマ「SHERLOCK」エピソード2 "The Blind Banker" より。親を亡くし、犯罪組織と関わりを持ってしまったスー・リン・ヤオと弟。組織から逃げ出したスー・リンの元に、組織の操り人形となった弟が、ある仕事の協力要請を伝えにやってきた。
- "turn someone away""turn away someone"で、「〜と会わない、〜に対する援助・助けを断る」(to refuse to give someone sympathy, help, or support/to refuse to see or talk to someone, or to consider something)などの意味に。そういえば昔、英会話クラスでこの表現が使えるシチュエーションあったな(その時は知らなかったので別の言い回しをした)。
- Anyone who comes to us will not be turned away.

- もっとシンプルに「(人を)(場所に)立ち入らせない」(to refuse to let someone enter a place or join an organization, for example because it is full)という意味もある。満員で特定のスペースに入れないような時にも使う。
